We’re looking for enthusiastic Senior Support Worker to work alongside our Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and Nursing Staff in delivering high quality care across our Stroke Pathway (rotating between acute hospital care and a new Stroke Rehabilitation Unit).

Your day might include:

· Daily care activities and recording observations

· Supporting patients with exercises, mobility and functional assessments

· Preparing equipment

· Helping ensure smooth and safe discharges

· Documenting care and communicating with the Therapy, Nursing team, patients and their families/carers

It is expected that the post holder will contribute to seven-day services

Main duties of the job

The postholder will be expected to:

Be an integral member of the service to assist with the direct care of patients as delegated to and supervised by a registered practitioner following the completion of specific competencies.

·   To provide support to the team, working collaboratively with members of the multi-disciplinary team and contributing positively to the delivery of high-quality compassionate care.

·   Contribute to the maintenance of care environment and quality initiatives to enhance patient care.

·    Ensure that their practice adheres to policies, procedures and competencies.

·   Act in a manner that upholds privacy, dignity, respect and confidentiality of patients and colleagues by upholding the fundamental standards of quality and safety and protecting them from harm.

·  Demonstrates the values of the NHS and commitment to personal and professional development.

·   This post will also include a rotation between Ridge Hill community-based rehab unit and ward C8 (Acute Stroke).

Person specification

Qualifications & Education

Essential criteria
  • Maths and English Qualification - GCSE A-C, or grade 5-9, or functional Skills level 2
  • QCF/NVQ Level 3 in Healthcare or equivalent qualification/relevant experience

Knowledge and Training

Essential criteria
  • Developed knowledge of clinical, technical and/or scientific roles and responsibilities, including clinical risk assessment.
  • An understanding of their role within the team

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience in health and/or social care settings, such as employment, work experience, volunteering, or placement(s)

Communication Skills

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of effective communication skills including verbal, written (legible handwriting), non-verbal, compassion and respect
  • Ability to communicate effectively with staff/multidisciplinary team and to understand how to behave/act in a clinical environment
