Job overview

The post holder will be ultimately accountable for all Therapists and Therapy Support Staff within Trust. The post-holder is responsible for the strategic and professional direction of Therapy Services. This involves delivery of all operational performance targets, ensuring all services are provided within the agreed level of activity, standards of performance, safety, quality and budget.

 

Provide leadership and strategic direction within Therapies. Working closely with the Deputy Director of Operations and the Divisional Leadership team and be responsible for the development of Therapy staff.

 

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for developing and implementing standards across Therapy Services within the Trust which support professional leadership, competence, capacity and standards of conduct.

 

Responsible for sustaining and developing strong and effective partnership and stakeholder relationships across local, regional and national networks. This will include leading the development of existing and new innovations that will support the development of the Trust’s strategic objectives.

 

To lead with other members of the triumvirate and other directorate and corporate management teams to ensure the effective and efficient delivery of services to clinical users and patients.

 

Working with senior management, to define and implement new ways of working to maximise the benefits of the new structure and play a leading role in the Trust transformation process to deliver Trust gains in cost and clinical effectiveness and efficiency

 

Take a leading role in service redesign and transformation contributing strategic knowledge and professional insight into proposals and plans and ensuring that staff are supported with training and other specific requirements to contribute to Hospital at Home, admission avoidance, safe discharge, re-ablement and other initiatives.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Masters degree in healthcare or management or demonstrable ability to work at Masters level.
  • First Degree and/or equivalent senior management experience.
  • HCPC Registration.
  • Professional Qualifications in one of the AHP disciplines.
  • Evidence of maintaining continuous professional development

Knowledge & Training

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge and understanding of the modernisation agenda and the opportunities for redesigning services
  • Knowledge and experience of collaborating with external organisations, both NHS and non-NHS providers whilst being politically aware of hidden agenda and adapting negotiating style to meet the needs.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Significant management experience in a senior role within the acute sector in particular operational management.
  • Significant experience and success at a clinical manager level including strategy development, budgetary control and leadership
  • Experience of managing strategic and operational performance in achieving key targets
  • Able to think and plan strategically and to engage others in the plan.
  • Proven record of financial management at senior level, delivering on complex and large budgets including reducing costs, monitoring and determining corrective action.
  • Successful delivery of cost improvement programmes.
  • Proven track record of meeting national targets including RTT
  • Significant experience of staff management, including the setting of objectives, team and individual appraisal, recruitment and disciplinary issues.
Desirable criteria
  • Proven success at managing complex organisational change while maintaining service quality across acute and community service with demonstrable impact on improving healthcare.
