Job overview
The Scan4Safety Operative is an essential support role, helping to provide patient care at our new state-of-the-art hospital, Midland Metropolitan University Hospital. The postholder will help manage supplies and stores required for wards. The postholder will be responsible for communicating with teams and ordering and receiving goods into the Department.
Main duties of the job
Supporting the Scan4Safety Lead, the Scan4Safety Operative will assist with the provision of the Scan for Safety (S4S) programme with responsibilities related to ensuring that supplies and stores required for wards are ordered and received into the department and thus assist in the smooth running of patient care.
Keeping a detailed stock record on Genesis, maintaining a safe and clean working area, communicating with stakeholders and helping to coordinate deliveries from NHS Suppy Chain and independant suppliers are all essential aspects of the role.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The Trust is on a journey to implement a full Scan4Safety (S4S) programme and the postholder will perform an important role in helping the Turst to realise this vision. The postholder will support the roll out and implementation of new projects and work with the new inventory management system and POC system functionality across the Trust where required.
The postholder will work with various stakeholders, including ward managers, to identify the stock and stock levels required to for safe patient care.
Communication with tNHSSC is an essential part of the role to ensure that stock is ordered & delivered to the appropriate areas

Essential criteria
- Microsoft Office
- Materials Management or buying experience
- Sound Commercial Knowledge
Desirable criteria
- Use of Oracle software
- Knowledge of NHS Logistics
- Understanding of NHS Supply Chain
- Use of Bar Code scanners
Qualifications
Essential criteria
- NVQ 3 or equivalent qualification / experience
- English, Maths GCSE Grade C or equivalent
Desirable criteria
- A purchasing qualification, e.g. CIPS, Foundation
Applicant requirements
The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
