Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust provides integrated acute and community Healthcare in the West Midlands serving a population of 260,000 residents. Walsall Manor Hospital houses the full range of district general hospital services. The £170 million development was completed in 2010 and we are continually upgrading. Construction of the new integrated critical care unit was completed in 2018, extension of a Neonatal Unit and an approved plan to build a brand new, state of the art Emergency Department which commenced in 2021

Job overview
The successful applicant should be able to provide efficient, effective and comprehensive clerical support to the Imaging Department, in a general office setting, in accordance with Trust policies and procedures and preferably with knowledge of CRIS . To ensure that all patient information is correct and to deal with day to day enquiries from both the general public and other hospital departments in a courteous, efficient and timely manner.
The post is for 37.5 hours/week which include evening and weekend work on a rota basis.

The post holder will participate in, promote and maintain efficient and effective delivery of a Diagnostic Imaging service throughout the Trust, whilst maintaining a quality service.
Applicants must possess:
A minimum of 2 years administrative/clerical experience within an NHS organisation in the last 2 years.
Business and Administration Level 2 is desirable
Demonstrate excellent prioritisation and time management skills and adaptability.
Have excellent communication skills

Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust is an integrated Trust and the only provider of NHS acute care in Walsall, serving a population of 286,700, providing inpatient and outpatient services at the Manor Hospital as well as a wide range of services in the community. Walsall Manor houses the full range of district general hospital services under one roof. The £170 million development was completed in 2010 and the continued upgrading of existing areas ensures the Trust now has a state-of-the-art Critical Care Unit, Neonatal Unit, Obstetric Theatre, and Integrated Assessment Unit facilities. Work is also well underway on its multi-million pound new Urgent and Emergency Care Centre which will house a new Emergency Department (including Children’s Emergency Department), co-located Paediatric Assessment Unit, Acute Medical Unit and Urgent Care Centre. This is scheduled for completion this year.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Principal Duties
Ø The post holder must be competent in administration support.
Ø Planning, organising and prioritising own workload whilst accepting direction and delegation from the Administration Manager.
Ø Providing and receiving routine information as assigned to support colleagues, clinicians, patients and other departments and clients.
Ø Requesting necessary items, information or services from other departments
Ø Responding promptly and appropriately to all external and internal telephone queries.
Ø Providing clerical support as assigned.
Ø Communicating appointments or examination information to patients or carers.
Ø Exercising judgment to record and report all relevant information as appropriate.
Ø Maintaining confidentiality and adhering to all organisational policies relating to the job.
Ø Responsible for processing imaging referrals as assigned.
Ø Handling, maintaining and tracking files and / or patient records accurately, confidentially and sensitively according to approved organisation and governance standards.
Ø Processing detail relating to patients and staff promptly and in organised and accurate manner.
Ø Receiving and handling of telephone calls according to established policies of professional telephone etiquette.
Ø Receiving, welcoming and directing visitors as they arrive in the department.

QUALIFICATIONS
Essential criteria
- Good standard level of education (GCSE or equivalent) in four subjects, one to be English
Desirable criteria
- NVQ level 2 (or equivalent) in Administration or Customer Service, or equivalent experience
EXPERIENCE

- Have previous experience of working within an office environment
