The Integrated Walsall Paediatric Physiotherapy service is looking to recruit an enthusiastic clinical specialist to their team. If you have a passion for working with children with MSK conditions, then we would like to invite you to apply to be part of our growing children’s service.
We provide assessment & intervention to children aged 0-18 with MSK, Rheumatology & congenital conditions.
We would like to recruit a Physiotherapist who has some experience in paediatrics and motivated to learn and gain further paediatric experience. The individual should have proven experience, working independently and as part of a team. This is a fantastic opportunity for the right candidate to develop their clinical skills.
We are an integrated Children’s physiotherapy service providing assessment and intervention for children and young people aged 0-19 years with a range of physical and developmental conditions, complex needs and life limiting conditions.
Will consider a Band 5- 6 development post if appropriate for the right candidate

Main duties of the job
The post holder will be working across the acute setting & the main caseload will consist of children with MSK needs. However, there will be also the expectation to cover the children’s ward if needed.
To work as part of multidisciplinary and multi-agency teams to deliver highly specialist interventions according to the agreed service care pathways. You will need to work collaboratively within the integrated team as well as the wider MDT
To develop and maintain effective working relationships with parents / carers and other stakeholders, using highly developed negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills
To maintain, develop and promote excellence in clinical practice paediatrics, with reference to current research and evidence-based practice, contributing to safe effective practice in the specialist clinical area

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
There are regular in-service training programmes, journal club, case discussions & team meetings. The post holder is encouraged to contribute to these & further develop their presentation & clinical analysis skills. Supervision, personal development reviews & professional development opportunities are available & CPD is supported & actively encouraged where funding has been secured. Some student supervision will also be required.

Education / Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Diploma / Degree in Physiotherapy
- HCPC Registration
- Evidence of relevant post registration training/CPD
Desirable criteria
- Post Graduate courses related to Paediatric MSK specialty
- Membership of APCP
- Membership of MSK Interest group
- Evidence of relevant post registration training within MSK & Respiratory
Knowledge and Experience
Essential criteria
- • Demonstrable current, practical experience acquired from post-graduate training and working as a postgraduate physiotherapist in paediatric physiotherapy including acute and MSK settings.
- • Working knowledge/experience of the functioning of paediatric community physiotherapy
- • Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team
- • Proven supervisory experience and skills
- • Ability to contribute to service development
- • Sound understanding of safeguarding procedures
- • Experience of prioritising & delegating work to physiotherapy assistants and junior staff.
- • Experience of and ability to work as part of a broad multi-disciplinary team/cross organisational working.
- • Demonstrates an up-to-date working knowledge of effective Paediatric MSK physiotherapy practice, Acute Respiratory and research
- • Thorough understanding of clinical governance and its implications for service provision
- • Sound knowledge of audit and evidence-based practice
- • Ability to pass on skills knowledge formally or informally to colleagues
- • Ability to maintain a CPD portfolio
- • Ability to work both independently and unsupervised as well as in a team
