Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust provides integrated acute and community Healthcare in the West Midlands serving a population of 260,000 residents. Walsall Manor Hospital houses the full range of district general hospital services. The £170 million development was completed in 2010 and we are continually upgrading. Construction of the new integrated critical care unit was completed in 2018, extension of a Neonatal Unit and an approved plan to build a brand new, state of the art Emergency Department which commenced in 2021

Senior Pharmacy Assistant – Homecare Services
Salary Band 3
The Pharmacy department at Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust is looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated individual to support the Pharmacy Homecare Service.
You will work closely with the Pharmacy Homecare Team to provide high quality care and service to all patients.
Hours are 37.5hrs per week Monday to Friday. You will also be required to work late night and weekends/bank holidays within the dispensary on rota performing the full range of activities within this area.
Main duties of the job
Applicants should have good communication and organisational skills, be self-motivated and possess excellent interpersonal skills. You must be flexible and able to work well in an environment of change and transition. Applicants must also have good computer skills, be able to work well under pressure and understand your role within the team passing on queries to appropriate personnel when required.
You must be willing to learn and take responsibility, working well within a diverse team consisting of Pharmacy Technicians, Pharmacists, and other Administrative staff. You will also be expected to develop good working relationships with other departments across the Trust and independent Homecare Providers.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
- Act as the first point of contact for the Pharmacy Homecare Team, dealing with routine queries and referring to the appropriate member(s) of the pharmacy team where appropriate.
- Assisting in the day-to-day smooth communication between the Pharmacy Homecare Team and other areas of the Pharmacy Department, the clinical areas and patients.
- Undertake administrative tasks to facilitate the efficient and timely running of the Pharmacy Homecare Service.
- Help to setup and maintain systems for accurate and efficient recording of Home delivery prescriptions.
- Process Homecare invoices and highlight any discrepancies to the Pharmacy Homecare admin team lead.
- Manage and collate statistical data on Pharmacy Homecare Team activity.
- Support the Pharmacy Homecare Team at operational and governance meetings.

Essential criteria
- Must hold an NVQ level 2 in Pharmacy Services certificate
Experience
Essential criteria
- Demonstrate experience as a pharmacy assistant
- Using pharmacy computer system and other IT systems
Desirable criteria
- Experience of customer care/patient care and /or always understanding the need of confidentiality awareness at times.
Skills & Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Able to meet deadlines and manage time/set priorities
- Have basic keyboard skills including Microsoft Word, Excel and internet knowledge
Desirable criteria
- Able to undertake routine tasks including routine clerical duties, e.g. photocopying and filing
- Able to work within a multidisciplinary team
