Job overview
This is an exciting opportunity to work with the Group Management to identify service development opportunities and develop business cases and plans in support of the Group’s objectives. The successful candidate will lead the Team of Non Obstetric Sonographers supporting development and advanced practice.

Main duties of the job
Reporting directly to the Directorate General Manager, the post holder will provide day to day management of the non Obstetric Ultrasound Department . Supported by a forward thinking Operations Team, the post holder will develop the Team of Sonographers, supporting their development
Key responsibilities include: Developing and implementing service strategies and business plans/cases, Ensuring operational effectiveness and efficiency, Budgetary control, Performance against national and local targets/key performance indicators/outcome measures. Effective clinical governance and risk management procedures. In addition the post holder will be required to be involved clinically in line with service needs.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Bsc Medical Ultrasound
- Qualified to perform and report range of Ultrasound scans
- Additional skill mix ability, able to scan a wide range of areas
Desirable criteria
- Relevant management experience/previous experience of Line managing a Team
Experience
Essential criteria
- Specialist expertise underpinned by theory and extensive practical experience in the range of ultrasound techniques which are required
- Must be able to work independently and be competent to write a concise and accurate report
- High standard of clinical skills
- IT Skills to use the necessary system / image recording system
- UK NHS ultrasound clinical experience
- Line management experience of staff
Desirable criteria
- Experience at writing protocols / guidelines and patient care pathways using research based evidence of best practice
- Experience in research and development
- Experience performing PDR/sickness absence
