TO COMMENCE FEBRUARY 2026

The post holder will work in the cardiology department, and especially in the subspeciality of the EP and Devices,  being an integral member of the cardiology team. They will gain extensive experience in all aspects of cardiac rhythm management including a variety of electrophysiology procedures, ablations and simple as well as complex device implantation. The post holder will participate in two arrhythmia out-patient clinics per week, take part in arrhythmia as well as general cardiology multidisciplinary meetings, be on the on-call rota, which is currently a 1:12 full shift system and also provide ward support as ‘a ‘middle grade of the week’, working alongside the consultant of the week to provide inpatient care for cardiology patients. The candidate will be encouraged to undertake audit and research

General

  1. In conjunction colleagues, to play a full part in the rota for the department.
  2. To provide cover for colleagues in respect of periods of leave.
  3. In conjunction with colleagues, to take part in medical audit and research as appropriate.
  4. In conjunction with colleagues, to ensure that the requirements of clinical governance are met.
  5. To ensure that there are adequate arrangements for hospital staff involved in the care of your patients to be able to contact you when necessary.

Junior Medical Staff

  1. In conjunction with Consultant and Senior colleagues, to play a full part in the supervision junior medical staff.

Management & Service Development

  1. In conjunction with colleagues, to take responsibility for the best use of departmental staffing and other resources to ensure the maximum efficiency of the department.
  2. To observe the Trust’s agreed policies and procedures, in particular in relation to managing staff, and to follow the Trust’s Standing Orders and Standing Financial Instructions. These policies and procedures have been drawn up in consultation with the profession on clinical matters.

Clinical Governance

  1. In conjunction with colleagues, to ensure that the requirements of clinical governance are met.

Health & Safety

  1. To take responsibility for your own Health & Safety complying with any safe working arrangements, policies and procedures which are in place.
  2. To accept a duty to other staff and patients to ensure that any hazards are reported and managed appropriately.

  1. Any other duties as deemed appropriate.
