Job overview

Managing Haematology emergencies within the ward-based setting. Managing patients within the new and follow up clinic including complex chronic conditions.

Day unit management of patients including prescribing chemotherapy and managing complications. Laboratory based Haematology including reporting blood films and Bone marrow biopsies. Use of the lab for transfusion medicine and coagulation testing.  Practical procedures will be performed including Bone marrow biopsies.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The candidate will work in a team comprising 8 consultants, specialist cancer nurses, ward nurses and Clinical fellows and junior doctors.

A timetable can be provided upon request and includes weekly rotations within the ward, out-patient clinic, laboratory, Day Unit and Bone procedures.

Working with a supervisor consultant delivering care to patients with Haematological conditions.

The candidate will be allocated a supervisor and receive an integrated report on their progress and leaning objectives for the attachment.

  • 3 years post degree work experience
  • Previous work experience in Clinical Haematology

  • Current UK work experience
