Applications are invited for a full time, permanent Speciality Doctor in General Paediatrics.

We are seeking a full-time Speciality Doctor to become an integral part of our team of experienced  Paediatric Medical Team providing a wide range of  Paediatric Services.

We serve a diverse, young population and have excellent relationships with partners across the city.

We have close links with our Community paediatric colleagues in the trust and the wider health team.

The postholder will be expected to have broad experience in all aspects of  paediatrics.

Main duties of the job

This job offers an exciting opportunity to join our excellent team of consultants working in Paediatrics. We are looking for a Speciality Grade in General Paediatrics to support the provision of excellent care to the children in Wolverhampton and supporting areas, working alongside the consultant body in both inpatient and outpatient areas.

 The candidate will be responsible for working with Medical Staffing to provide work schedules for Tier 1 and Tier 2 doctors and ANPs. They will also be responsible for authorising annual leave and study leave. 

We are also currently part of an Integrated Care Alliance for Children and Young People in Wolverhampton and looking to develop processes for paediatrics working closely with the Primary Care Networks across Wolverhampton. 

You will work on conjunction with Consultant and Senior colleagues, to contribute to duties on the children’s ward the Paediatric Assessment Unit and Children’s Outpatients.

You will support Consultants and Senior colleagues in medical audit and research as appropriate and ensure ensure that the requirements of clinical governance are met.

To ensure that there are adequate arrangements for hospital staff           involved in the care of your patients to be able to contact you when          necessary.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

In conjunction with Consultant and Senior colleagues, to play a full part in the professional supervision and management of junior medical staff.

 In conjunction with Consultant and Senior colleagues, to take           responsibility for and devote time to teaching, examination and           accreditation duties as required for junior medical staff.

 Management & Service Development

In conjunction with Divisional Manager, Group Manager, Consultant and Senior Colleagues, to take an active role in the management of the Division.

In conjunction with the Divisional Manager, Group Manager, Consultant & Senior colleagues, to play a full part in developing & implementing new ways   of working in line with modernisation principles and fit for the future.

In conjunction with Consultant and Senior colleagues, to take           responsibility for the best use of departmental staffing and other           resources to ensure the maximum efficiency of the department.

To observe the Trust’s agreed policies and procedures, in particular in     relation to managing staff, and to follow the Trust’s Standing Orders          and Standing Financial Instructions.  These policies and procedures          have been drawn up in consultation with the profession on clinical           matters.
