Job overview

The role will be based with the Orthopaedic Physiotherapy Team working on the busy Trauma and Elective Orthopaedic Wards at Southmead Hospital, a regional center for Orthopaedic surgery and a Major Trauma Centre. The role will also include working in our exciting new elective center based at Southmead Hopsital

Main duties of the job

The post-holder will support the rehabilitation of patients following planned Orthopaedic surgery, day-case operations and after trauma. They will work alongside registered Physiotherapists to help patients regain mobility and function. Some work will be independent after training to support patients with exercises and mobility.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

After initial training, the post-holder will be able to progress Orthopaedic patients with exercises and mobility towards a safe discharge home independently. They will participate in joint rehabilitation sessions with registered therapists requiring physical effort and the use of manual handling equipment. The post-holder will also be responsible for the maintenance, storage and ordering of walking aids, recording statistics and making onward out-patient physiotherapy referrals as well as other administrative tasks as required. There will be a regular weekend commitment (one weekend day every four weeks) with a non-working day in the week to compensate when these shifts arise. This is part of a roster pattern. The hours of the post may fluctuate and can be considered between the hours of 8am - 8pm. This post is part-time 18.75hrs a week - days and hours are negotiable if successful at interview
