Job overview
This is a post for applicants with anaesthesia and intensive care medicine (ICM) experience at CT (or equivalent) level as the post rotates through general anaesthesia, obstetric anaesthesia and ICM.
The post is ideal for applicants between CT and higher anaesthesia / ICM training. We welcome applicants who are currently in the process of applying for a training post in anaesthesia / ICM. During your time with us, you will be able to complete all of the necessary competencies for Stage 1 top-up training in Anaesthesia over 12-15 months in this post.

Main duties of the job
The post is required to meet the increasing demand for anaesthetic and Critical Care services within the Trust.
The post will be a combination of service, teaching and out of hours, rotating between general anaesthesia, obstetric anaesthesia and Intensive Care for periods of 3-6 months by arrangement. NB with respect to Intensive Care, there will be a mix of clinical commitments at Bristol Royal Infirmary and Weston General Hospital.

Essential criteria
- Able to assess, resuscitate and stabilise acutely sick patients
- Able to participate as key member of cardiac arrest team with advanced airway skills
- Demonstrates good clinical judgement
- Understands audit and governance processes
Desirable criteria
- Completed specialist skills courses (e.g. difficult airways, advanced life support course)
- Able to anaesthetise and care for complex cases with appropriate supervision
- Designed and / or completed audits

Qualifications and Training
Essential criteria
- Registered with General Medical Council (UK)
- At least 18 months Full-time hospital service as an anaesthetist / critical care trainee in the CT (or equivalent) grade
- Initial test of competency (CT)
Desirable criteria
- FRCA (Part 1) or equivalent
- Other membership, fellowship or diplomas
- Previous experience of working in the British Healthcare system (not observing)
