Job overview

Applications are welcome for a full time (40 hours per week/ 10 PAs) Clinical Fellow post in Oral Medicine, based in Bristol Dental Hospital. The post is for a fixed term : 6months with the ability to extend to 12 months. 

This post provides an opportunity for the appointee to contribute to the delivery of a consultant-led Oral Medicine service. The post holder will work with colleagues within Oral Medicine and the wider Bristol Dental Hospital.

Appropriately experienced applicants must have full registration with the General Dental Council and have demonstrable experience of work within a dedicated Oral Medicine Unit. The post start date can be flexible.

Main duties of the job

The post-holder will provide clinical advice and treatment predominantly within the speciality of Oral Medicine. The post will be based in the Department of Oral Medicine at the Bristol Dental Hospital & School for a period of months with an opportunity to extend to a total of 12 months. 

 

The post-holder will complement the existing Consultants in Oral Medicine by having a proven interest in these specific clinical areas.  The post holder will primarily require demonstrable experience and expertise within the field of Oral Medicine to allow a degree of independent practise.

Knowledge and Experience

Essential criteria
  • Previous working experience within a Consultant-led Oral Medicine specialist unit.
  • Effective participation in clinical audit
  • Experience of postgraduate and undergraduate training in oral medicine at an appropriate level
Desirable criteria
  • General experience in carrying out soft tissue biopsies under LA

Qualifications and Training

Essential criteria
  • Bachelor of Dental Surgery (or equivalent) with a minimum of four years post qualification experience
  • GDC registration
Desirable criteria
  • Postgraduate qualification such as an FDS/MFDS
  • Significant hospital postgraduate experience in an employed capacity in a specialist oral medicine unit
