Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for the department of Haematology, Oncology and Bone Marrow Transplant (HOB) to expand our CNS service. We are looking for both a full time and part-time Band 7 Leukaemia Clinical Nurse Specialists. 

We would welcome applications from enthusiastic, dynamic and passionate nurses with a proven track record of good organisational skills and the ability to demonstrate exceptional clinical leadership.  Creative thinking and problem-solving skills are essential and have extensive experience and knowledge within the field of Haematology, Oncology and Bone Marrow Transplant. 

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work as an integral member of the Multidisciplinary Team within University Hospitals Bristol NHS Foundation Trust and across the community. The post holder will acknowledge and provide the overall responsibility for the provision of specialist nursing advice and support to patients and families, in-patient and out-patient, throughout their care pathway.              

The post holder will utilize skills of clinical expertise, leadership, education and management to ensure a seamless service for patients, carers and staff. S/he will provide advice, support and information from the time of diagnosis and throughout care pathway

S/he will work closely with the multidisciplinary team in hospital and the community to ensure a co-ordinated quality service and will be actively involved in education, audit and research.

The post holder will engage and lead discussions in multidisciplinary team meetings

Training & Registration

Essential criteria
  • RSCN.1st Level
  • Current NMC Registration
  • Relevant accredited post registration qualification at level 3
  • Degree or equivalent (in related health topic or willingness to work towards)
  • Evidence of masters’ level academic study or equivalent level of experience gained through clinical and management roles
Desirable criteria
  • Non medical prescribing qualification and registration

Knowledge & Experience

Essential criteria
  • Extensive and varied post registration experience
  • Substantial current speciality experience
  • Evidence of recent teaching experience
  • Experience of undertaking research or audit projects
