SENIOR CLINICAL FELLOW IN OESOPHAGO-GASTRIC SURGERY
Applications are invited for the full time post of post CCT Clinical fellow in Upper GI Surgery based within the Division of Surgery at University
The post will be due to start in April 2026. We are one of the UK’s leading Upper GI centres with an international reputation for healthcare research.
Applicants must be on the GMC Specialist Register or equivalent and have obtained their CCT or equivalent Applications from candidates who, for personal reasons, are unable to work full-time will be eligible to be considered for this post.
Main duties of the job
This post is designed to support the delivery of both the Upper GI Cancer Network service and also the specialist benign OG service. You will be joining a team lead by five Consultant oesophago-gastric surgeons who have a strong team-based approach to patient care. It is expected that the successful appointee will have a particular interest in continuing to train in cancer surgery and minimally invasive oesophagectomy . The postholder will also have responsibilities to develop and contribute to continuing education, professional development, audit and research within the Division and Trust.

Essential criteria
- MBChB or equivalent
- MRCS or equivalent
Desirable criteria
- FRCS (Gen. Surg)
Knowledge and Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience in clinical Oesophago-Gastric Surgery as a senior trainee
- Experience in audit and research
- Knowledge of clinical and basic sciences relevant to Oesophago-Gastric Surgery
Desirable criteria
- Knowledge of Good Clinical Practice
Skills and Abilities
Essential criteria
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Ability to communicate affectively, both in writing and verbally
- Ability to work with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook)

Desirable criteria
- Ability to undertake independent open oesophago-gastric surgical practice
- Have developing experience in laparoscopic oesophago-gastric surgery
- Be a JAG approved (or equivalent) upper gastrointestinal endoscopist (Not necessarily interventional)
