Job overview
The Patient Flow/Discharge Team are offering a fantastic opportunity to join our progressive Discharge Lounge as a Ward/Department Sister / Charge Nurse.
As a team we are committed to providing high quality care to our patients. We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our compassionate and driven team. You will need to be flexible, enthusiastic and passionate about patient flow nursing showing commitment towards service improvement. You will work alongside the senior site team and Matron to provide strong clinical leadership to the ward facilitating the delivery of high quality, patient centred care.
Main duties of the job
Our successful Sister/ Charge Nurse will be able to work alongside the existing team in a leadership role to assist in the enhancement and development of the Discharge Lounge, with a particular focus on the delivery of high-quality care within a busy environment. You will be in charge of the clinical shift and dedicated to ensuring the planning, implementation and evaluation of high standards of care embedding the Trusts behaviours and values.
Applicants must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well a passion for improvement and be committed to the development of your team. You will need to be calm and resilient with the ability to deal with challenging situations ensuring you are able to provide support to junior members of the team and maintain patient safety.

- Previous experience in Teaching/ Coaching/ Mentoring
- Evidence of continued professional development related to Discharge/Patient Flow
- Experience of Patient Flow & Discharge
Desirable criteria
- Evidence of effective budget and resource management
- Ability to initiate, sustain and evaluate change
Skills, Abilities and Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Have knowledge and insight into the importance of maintaining a safe working environment
- Ability to use Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel to produce basic documents as required for day to day tasks
Education, Qualifications and Training
Essential criteria
- Registered General Nurse - Currently registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council
- ENB 998/ Mentorship Course
- Relevant Post Registration experience
Desirable criteria
- Working towards a degree
- Completion of appropriate leadership/ management programme
