Applications are invited for the appointment to a fixed-term locum Consultant post in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Buckinghamshire Hospitals NHS Trust based at Stoke Mandeville Hospital. The post will comprise 10 PAs with non-resident on call. 

We are looking for a motivated and committed individual to join our supportive and forward-thinking Obstetrics and Gynaecology team. The successful applicant will be expected to demonstrate broad experience in both Obstetrics and General Gynaecology, with the capability to contribute to colposcopy services, gynaecological oncology, two-week-wait clinics, and the management of referrals, in line with service needs. Experience in outpatient hysteroscopy would also be desirable. 

The post holder will be expected to support the delivery of high-quality, patient-centred care that meets the needs of women and their families. A degree of flexibility in supporting service delivery during this period would be desirable.

The successful applicant will be expected to work at both Stoke Mandeville Hospital (SMH) and Wycombe Hospital (WH).

The successful applicant will be expected to:

  • provide high quality patient centred Consultant led obstetrics and gynaecology services.
  • provide a range of clinical services across both obstetrics and gynaecology, specifically support to the oncology services.
  • provide flexible services in the backfill of 2 week wait clinics, triage of referrals and colposcopy.
  • be fully involved with the teaching and training of medical staff within the Department and to work closely with the RCOG College Tutor in this respect.
  • take part in the induction programme for resident doctors, participate in GP training and teaching of medical students as required.
  • ensure proper delegation to and training of resident doctors and nursing staff.
  •  participate in the Consultant on call rota, with internal cover.
  • undertake administrative and managerial duties associated with the post including attendance at and contributing to departmental meetings.
  •  participate in consultant appraisal, audits and academic events.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

  • Full GMC registration
  • MRCOG or equivalent
  • CCT in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and on GMC’s Specialist Register or must be expecting to receive CCT within the next six months to be eligible for interview
  • ATSM – Benign abdominal surgery: open and laparoscopic and/or ATSM in Oncology

CLINICAL EXPERIENCE AND EFFECTIVENESS

  • Clinical training and experience in general obstetrics and gynaecology equivalent to the required for a UK CCT
  • Statement regarding appropriate training and experience including that relating to a specialist interest
  • Evidence of experience in Gynaecological Surgery (ATSM or log of procedures – to demonstrate equivalent competence)
