As part of the Medicines Optimisation Agenda the Trust is looking to appoint an experienced and highly motivated pharmacist into this senior position of Lead Advanced Pharmacist for Medical Specialities.
The successful candidate will work with pharmacy and clinical specialities within the Trust to ensure medicines are used safely, appropriately, cost effectively and in accordance with local policies.
The role will be clinically focussed and key objective will be to promote the introduction and use of the complex and high cost medicines within the Trust and to support the use of biosimilar medicines.
This is a new role for a Senior Pharmacist will be fully supported by pharmacy and lead consultants. It provides the successful candidate an opportunity to develop their clinical and project management skills as well as build collaborative working relationships with clinicians and colleagues across primary and secondary care. The growth in the use of novel immunomodulatory drugs across specialities means you will also become familiar with implementation of NICE Technology appraisals, formulary applications, the use of Blueteq, and the management of Biosimilar switches, therefore further developing valuable skills in governance, risk management and cost effective use of medicines.
We would expect you to have excellent clinical pharmacy knowledge with a sound understanding of the use of biologic/biosimilar medicines and the financial aspects of these services.
