Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust have a vacancy for an Clinical Innovation Fellow for a 12 month Fixed Term Contract available from August 2025.
Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust has a strong commitment to innovation and innovative research as we believe it is one of the drivers to providing the best possible care for our patients, through continuous learning and collaboration.
The Innovation Fellow will be based in our BRAInLAB facility, a purpose-built innovation space located on the first floor of the Research & Innovation Centre at Stoke Mandeville Hospital. Equipped with the latest cutting-edge technology including extended reality headsets, a virtual reality radiology hub and 3D printing capability, BRAInLAB, opened in 2024 is a collaborative innovation space dedicated to problem solving and solution building for staff at Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust & small to medium sized enterprises.
Our Innovation service aims to tackle challenges and drive improvement in products, clinical pathways, MedTech and Artificial intelligence (AI) solutions through early pilot evaluations and health economic cases to accelerated adoption and spread of innovation to improve patients’ outcomes.

Main duties of the job
We are committed to training the healthcare innovators of tomorrow and this innovation fellowship has been designed to provide the foundations for a clinician-innovator career.
The BHT Innovation Fellow will spend 3 days per week working on Innovation and the remaining 2 days attached to a clinical specialty. This is to allow the Fellow to maintain clinical contact and continue to develop their clinical skills at the same time as developing their skills and understanding of innovation.
The successful candidate will also be expected to deliver innovation training and curate our annual innovation conference, BRAInWave.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Innovation role
· Support the Associate Medical Director of Research & Innovation in their role
· Work with innovation project managers to deliver projects
· Design and deliver health technology educational content for both Trust colleagues and associate undergraduates
· Curate and deliver BRAInWave conference
· Develop a skill set to allow progression to a more senior role in healthcare innovation
Clinical role
· To have regular meetings with their Clinical Supervisor and a yearly appraisal
· To follow Trust guidelines and pathways
· To actively participate in departmental teaching
To reflect on clinical practice to demonstrate learning and progression

Education, Qualifications and Training
Essential criteria
- MBChB or equivalent
- Foundation 1-2 year training or equivalent
- Management/business/ leadership qualification

- Participation in the NHS clinical entrepreneurship program
Experience
Essential criteria
- Completed HEE foundation programme or equivalent
- Research experience in healthcare technology Experience of interacting with health technology industry
Desirable criteria
- Experience of healthcare innovation and technology through project work/internships/other exposure
Skills, Abilities and Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Experience of delivering teaching to under and postgraduates
- Experience of designing and delivering healthcare technology educational content
- Ability to work independently and manage own workload
- Ability to be part of a team
- High level of computer literacy
- Good command of spoken and written English
- Involved in quality improvement activities
Desirable criteria
- Prepared to be flexible in working patterns and to deputise on occasions for absent colleagues

Other Requirements
Essential criteria
- Full GMC Registration with Licence to practice in the UK
- Ability to travel to and between multiple hospital sites.
- Prior medical experience of working in the NHS
Desirable criteria
- Full UK Drivers Licence with access to own car
