Job overview

To undertake reception and clerical duties, provide an accurate and efficient data entry service of patient information within the Women’s Services Outpatient Department.  Support the midwifery and medical staff as appropriate.

 

Main duties of the job

Arrange all Gynaecology appointments , Obstetric clinics and ultrasound appointments, using the CareFlow, Soliton and eRS systems,  ensuring all NHS targets and Government waiting list deadlines are met and inform the line manager if the deadlines cannot be achieved. Work closely with the midwifery/nursing staff to ensure the smooth running of all outpatient clinics held in the Ante Natal & Gynae Clinic area at Wycombe General Hospital. Liaising closely with the Community Midwives, retrieving and filing patient information into the case notes as requested.

Register, collate and enter onto the computer system all patient held records as well as collecting and filing of all in-patient books. Gather, input and amend data on the CareFlow system including registering new patients, and undertake filing of all relevant patient medical records to include both in-patient and postnatal books and any other records maintained by the department. Provide reception cover within the busy Ante Natal & Gynae Clinic area at Wycombe General Hospital, greeting patients and their families and all other visitors. Answering the telephone and dealing with enquiries as appropriate within a reasonable timescale.

Essential criteria
  • Clear, concise verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent keyboard skills to ensure all outpatient activity is recorded onto the bespoke database in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998.
  • Able to give 100% attention to detail when scheduling appointments to prevent breaches.
  • Experience of making and taking telephone calls with customers or patients
  • Able to work under pressure and deal with conflict situations to an amicable conclusion.
Desirable criteria
