Trosolwg o'r swydd

This is an opportunity to apply for the position of Band 7 Specialist Radiographer for CT  based at Wycombe Hospital. 

The successful candidate will work alongside the Modality lead  to provide a safe and efficient CT service. You will be expected to work/ train to cover CT, Cath Lab and plain film as required by the service and based on experience. 

Candidates should have significant CT experience with a post graduate qualification in CT or be willing to undertake the qualification on appointment.

The successful candidate will be expected to train new staff, implement service change and maintain image quality, while being an expert point of contact for junior staff.

Prif ddyletswyddau'r swydd

- Work alongside the Modality Lead  for the CT Service.
- Vet and accept specialist and general imaging requests.
- Perform highly complex scans including cardiac CT.
- Intravenous injection of contrast media by hand or by injector.
- Programming of scanner sequences/protocols for use of other staff. 

- Advanced knowledge of CT protocols, with the ability to amend scans as required in collaboration with CT Leads
- Full participation and trainer of CT scanner QA

- Cannula insertion trainer and competency assessment.
- High pressure injector trainer and competency assessment.
- Use imaging sequences appropriate to the patient’s condition.

- Interpretation of CT images to a level where the post-holder is able to discuss further imaging requirements with a Consultant Radiologist to improve the diagnostic out-come for the patient and expedite important findings.

- Train, sign off and maintain staff training records in CT

- Manage CT stock ensuring proactive ordering management and monitoring of supplies

Skills, Abilities & Knowledge

  • Ionising Radiation Legislation
  • CT Safety
  • Knowledge of patient monitoring whilst sedated/anaesthetised
  • Venepuncture & Cannulation
  • Manual Handling
  • Effective communication skills in particular to manage difficult and claustrophobic patients and patients of all ages.
  • Ability to develop protocols for clinical imaging in order to support evidence based practice
  • Ability to develop/ influence department-wide policies/procedures to support a consistent approach to patient care
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety issues.
  • Computer literate – required to use specialist imaging equipment including complex post processing image manipulation packages. The radiology information system and standard windows applications.
  • Appraisal and objective setting.
  • Organisation skills.
  • Management of complaints
  • Presentation skills for effective teaching of other staff

Experience

  • 4 years’ experience in radiography including out of hours work
  • 3 years specialist experience in CT
  • Wider radiology experience to participate in out of hours service.
  • Experience of day to day running of a service.
  • Staff/student supervision and competency assessment.
  • Staff management and appraisal
  • Has undertaken audit projects and acted on findings
  • Protocol development
  • Knowledge of CT QA
  • Authorised trainer for venflon insertion.

Education, Qualifications & Training
