An exciting opportunity has arisen to work within the A rated Stroke Unit at Wycombe Hospital as an Occupational Therapy Clinical Support Worker supporting the acute stroke rehabilitation team and rehabilitating patients.
The post will suit independent, motivated, hard working and enthusiastic staff, who wish to work as part of the dynamic Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy teams.
Main duties of the job
You will undertake therapy treatments and interventions on the Stroke and sometimes Medical wards and sometimes in a patient’s own home as identified by the Therapists to progress towards transfer or discharge.
Previous experience of working in Therapy and having treated patients within a hospital or community environment who have fallen, medical or neurological is necessary.
The Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy teams work a seven day therapy service and work at weekends.
This post is not suitable for qualified Therapists.
Successful candidates will be fully trained for the requirements of the post and regular training, supervision and appraisal are provided.

EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING
Essential criteria
- Level 3 GCSE or equivalent in English
- Good level of education to GCSE standard. (at least 3 subjects)
Desirable criteria
- NVQ level III in Health care
- Manual Handling or First Aid qualification
EXPERIENCE
Essential criteria
- Able to accept and undertake responsibility for designated task
- Experience within a customer care (face to face) environment
- Previous work in health care environment and experience of patients with neurological impairment.
Desirable criteria
- Previous work experience in Occupational Therapy or Physiotherapy
- Experience of patients with neurological impairment
SKILLS, ABILITIES & KNOWLEDGE
Essential criteria
- Clear, concise verbal and written communication to ensure liaison with multi disciplinary team, patients and carers to ensure records and reports are accurate, legal and in legible manner (in English)
- Able to work within a team setting
- Evidence of self motivation and initiative
- Know own limitations and seek advice
- Able to undertake manual handling tasks
- Demonstrate good organisational skills.
- Demonstrate insight into the importance of maintaining a safe working environment
- Ability to learn / ability to self initiate learning (evidence within the last 2 years)
- Able to maintain written communications / records.
- Awareness of health & safety issues and policies.
- Able to know own limitations and seek advice
- Able to complete tasks set, follow instructions
