Band 2/3 £24,465 - £26,598 per annum, pro rata if part-time
Hours: 37.5 all MKUH roles will be considered for flexible working
Do you have a passion for patient care and want to work in a fast-paced hospital environment? Are you a committed, caring and collaborative individual?
Ward 8 is a general medicine division who specialise in Diabetes, Endocrinology, hormonal and metabolic problems. Ward 1 is a 26-bedded ward within the Medicine division. They are a short stay unit that specialise in treatment and assessment of acutely unwell medical patients.
Our main objective at #TeamMKUH is to ensure each, and every patient receives safe and effective care and leaves our patients and their families having a positive experience of the service.
To join our teams, you must be pro-active, enthusiastic, able to work collaboratively, and put patient needs at the forefront of your role.
Please be advised if you do not have a NHS Care Certificate you will be Band 2 until this has been completed alongside your 6-month probationary period.

The role of the Healthcare Assistant is to assist the nursing team in the delivery of safe effective care to the patient, supporting patients with personal care and activities of daily living

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Main duties and responsibilities
• Undertake personal care duties, supporting patients as needed with bathing, toileting, dressing and feeding. Ensure privacy and dignity is maintained.
• Assess patient health, safety and wellbeing whilst undertaking personal care, reporting any concerns with patient conditions to a senior member of staff, in accordance with the department’s escalation process.
• To complete relevant documentation, including updating patient records with patient information such as fluid balance, nutrition, height and weight, as necessary.
• To assist, where appropriate, in the induction of new staff within the department, demonstrating duties to new starters
• To organise own daily workload, adjusting and prioritising appropriately as the ward activity dictates.
Professional
• To act at all times in a professional and courteous manner.
• To ensure compliance with statutory and mandatory training.

- Basic understanding and competence in Maths & English
- NVQ Level 2 or equivalent relevant experience
