Job overview

We are seeking a highly organised and proactive Patient Flow Manager to oversee and optimise the movement of patients through our healthcare system. This role is critical in ensuring safe, timely, and efficient patient care while maintaining operational performance and reducing delays across departments.

You will work closely with clinical and operational teams to coordinate admissions, transfers, and discharges, ensuring capacity is used effectively and patient experience remains at the forefront.

We cover the Trust 7 days a week, 24 hours a day including bank holidays and play a pivotal role in the operational flow of patients through the Trust from all admission and discharge pathways. 

Main duties of the job

 Support patient flow through ED and the Trust working alongside the 707 Operational matron and Operational flow matron (OFM), to improve patient flow and ultimately supporting the 4hr standard.  

PFMs provide support with allocation of patient placement to inpatient wards across the Trust.

Identify bottlenecks and implement solutions to improve patient pathways

The PFM team work collectively across the Divisions to optimise patient pathways, manage delays and ensure timely access to care. This is achieved working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • GCSE or equivalent.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Previous Experience in Patient Flow either as a bed Manager or Ward Clerk .
  • Experience of working in a busy and complex healthcare setting.
  • Experience of working in a high pressured busy environment with competing demands
Desirable criteria
  • Previous NHS experience in an acute setting.
  • Previous NHS experience
  • Previous patient flow management experience
  • Knowledge Of Addenbrookes Clinical areas.

Knowledge
