Job overview

The Data for Improvement Analyst has a crucial role in the CNO Project Team supporting a wide range of projects across the nursing, midwifery and AHP portfolio, that are critical in enabling the organisation to meet its' aims and vision and deliver its strategy.

The role will be important in ensuring that we can understand and track the impact of the improvements we make and identify areas for improvement, as well as ensuring that we present this data in a way that is accurate, engaging and tailored to the audience.

Main duties of the job

Your responsibilities will be as follows: 

·         Work closely with clinical, nursing and operational teams to understand their services and translate this into the data and reporting requirements as well as understand the complexities of our data and communicate this effectively with a range of staff groups.

·         Work with CNO Project Team, Heads of Nursing, Director of Midwifery, Director of AHPs and other key stakeholders to develop and deliver regular reporting on key projects and support a culture of sustainable continuous quality improvement, aiming to make a difference for and with our patients, supporting better patient care and staff experience, whilst ensuring CUH’s future sustainability

·         Work with staff from across the organisation to understand information needs and presentation formats that support a data for improvement approach

·         Provide skills and experience in the appropriate use of data and reports to support delivery of quality improvements

·         Continuously promote and support the use of quality improvement methodologies

·         Act as a visible champion for improvement, innovation within the CNO, by building effective stakeholder networks both inside and outside the organisation

·         Provide skills and experience in quality improvement methodologies and facilitation to support delivery of improvements

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent, ideally in informatics / statistics, or related field / demonstrable equivalent experience
  • A-Level maths or equivalent

  • Practical experience in managing database security (or transferable skills)
  • Experience of building business objects solutions including universe design, web intelligence and dashboarding
  • Experience of communication with senior managers and colleagues who may be from a non-technical background
  • Able to create databases, database files, data types and tables within SQL server and Access environment
  • Extensive experience of developing Excel spreadsheets and ability to effectively summarise data in a range of formats, including (but not limited to) run charts, statistical process control charts, pivot tables
  • Knowledge of relational database design, implementation and support
  • Ability to discuss technical requirements of clinical and administrative staff with no/limited technical knowledge, using common terminology that is understood by those concerned to arrive at a suitable solution to meet their needs
  • Ability to analyse performance data and provide meaningful and credible information
  • Ability to interpret information and quickly assimilate data and spot inconsistencies/patterns
  • Ability to produce high quality, accurate and concise intelligence packs from analysis of disparate sources, both quantitative and qualitative
