Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for highly motivated and innovative individuals to join our Employee Relations (ER) team. We are looking to recruit to two full time substantive posts. 

Working in a busy and challenging environment, you will provide expert HR advice and work closely with managers and senior stakeholders on a wide range of employee relations issues. Supported by an ER Advisor, you will be responsible for a large, complex portfolio of ER casework, providing a high quality service whilst embedding best practice HR solutions across the Trust to line managers to provide safe and consistent advice and process.  You will also contribute to the continual improvement and innovative systems that play a pivotal role in driving forward the People Plan. 

You will ideally be CIPD qualified, have significant experience of managing complex and sensitive employee relations cases, have a sound knowledge of employment law and demonstrate the ability to work with trade unions in a partnership role.

With strong people management skills, you will be driven by high standards, be resilient, confident, approachable,  and professional with strong and visible leadership and a flexible approach to working. Experience of working within a unionised environment will be an advantage.

Main duties of the job

You will work in partnership with senior managers to provide specialist, comprehensive, high quality advice and guidance on operational HR issues in line with the latest employment law, Trust policy and good practice.


You will undertake project work and deliver bespoke and corporate training programmes.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • CIPD qualified or equivalent proven HR skills and experience.
  • Evidence of further professional/personal development.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Specialist experience of dealing with complex employee relations cases (e.g. change management/ grievance/ disciplinary etc).
  • Experience of staff management, performance management and development.
  • Experience of training design and delivery.
  • Experience of workforce information systems.
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working in Human Resources in a healthcare setting or other public service.
  • Experience of working in a unionised environment.
  • Experience of organisational change, workforce planning and redesign, pay and reward.
  • Experience of TUPE.
  • Experience of undertaking Agenda for Change grading reviews/ job evaluation.
  • Experience of coaching.

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Understanding of confidentiality and data protection.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages.
  • A thorough understanding of employee relations issues.
  • A strong working knowledge of employment legislation.
Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge of the Trust including awareness of priorities.
  • Knowledge of NHS terms and conditions.
  • Knowledge of the Trust’s HR policies and procedures.
  • Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages.
