Job overview

We have an exciting opportunity to join Division D as an Operational Manager. The role will cover ENT, Plastics and Vascular services, although please note that we regularly review the portfolios of our operational managers across the division and therefore this portfolio may be subject to change over time.

Division D is responsible for Neurosciences, EPOV (Ear, Nose and Throat, Head and Neck, Plastics, Oral / Maxillofacial, Vascular Surgery) and CDG-MODEL (Cardiology, Dermatology, Medical Genetics, Metabolic Medicine, Obesity, Diabetes / Endocrinology and Lipids).

We deliver around half of the Outpatient activity and a third of the Surgical activity across the hospital and run 13 Wards. Many of our services have regional footprints and we work closely with networks, the Cancer Alliance, NHSE and ICBs to deliver high-quality care to patients across the East of England and further afield.

Main duties of the job

Enable the delivery of outstanding services in accordance with agreed objectives, targets (including RTT and Cancer targets), quality standards, controls and resource constraints.

Operationally manage all non-medical and medical staff, space and equipment allocated to the department to ensure an efficient delivered service.

Line-manage operational and administrative staff in ENT, Plastics and Vascular services. Be a senior leader within Division D and form part of our Senior Management Team. Provide daily support and leadership for staff across the directorate, ensuring patients and staff are safe, cared for and listened to.

Follow the Trust’s policies and procedures and establish and develop departmental policies and procedures to ensure safe and efficient delivery of ENT, Plastics and Vascular services.

Ensure that operational and administrative staff treat all patients with dignity and respect.

Use Information held in the Trust offices pertinent to the efficient performance of your services and where appropriate present cases for your services to increase their resources.

Responsible for the formulation of departmental strategies for the training, supervision and development of all non-medical staff within the department and users of the service as appropriate.

Develop and maintain contingency plans for the department.

Management of compliance with respect to CQC regulations.

  • BSc or equivalent in relevant subject
  • MSc or equivalent post graduate level experience
  • Post graduate management qualification or equivalent experience
