Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Neurosurgery Department for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our very busy and dedicated admissions booking team.

Main duties of the job

You will provide administrative support alongside our booking team to ensure our patients are booked for preoperative assessments and subsequent surgery.

You will be expected to work efficiently, with a high degree of accuracy and confidentiality.   You will have the ability to use your initiative and manage, prioritise and complete your workload while working under pressure. 

Home working would be available to the successful candidate once the training period has been completed.

Please note:- Internal applicants on permanent contracts can apply for this post as a secondment or fixed term contract. For secondments you must have the approval of your line manager before applying. If you are an internal applicant currently on a fixed term contract you are able to apply for this as a fixed term position.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Educated to A level or NVQ level 3 Customer Service/ Business Admin /ITQ or equivalent
  • Typing qualification or equivalent experience (if applicable)
  • Specific technical/professional qualification (if applicable)
Desirable criteria
  • Evidence of CPD

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of working in a busy clerical/office environment or reception service
  • Prioritising, planning and organising own tasks
  • Working within guidelines
  • Experience of dealing with difficult situations and confrontations
  • Data entry experience and documentation
  • Experience of IT packages – Microsoft office
  • Experience of producing documents to a high standard
Desirable criteria
  • Previous experience of working in NHS
  • Previous experience of working with medical records
  • Experience of Supervising staff
  • Experience of liaising directly with clinical staff
  • Experience within Neurosciences, surgical specialties and/or theatre bookings

  • Basis Knowledge of waiting lists and booking procedures
