Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Division C Education Team as a Clinical Educator. We are a newly established team with a strong passion for education in clinical practice, delivering learning through a blended educational model.

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse who will play a pivotal role in the planning, development, and delivery of inclusive education for both undergraduate and postgraduate learners. Previous teaching experience and demonstrable involvement in education programme development are essential.

Knowledge and experience within acute medicine, transplantation, and care of the older person are required for this role, with a special interest in dementia-related education being desirable.

In this role, you will support learners across Division C, including direct-entry students, apprentices, Healthcare Support Workers (HCSWs), and post-registration Registered Nurses, enabling them to complete competencies and consolidate learning within clinical practice through supported supervision. You will be expected to respond proactively to the evolving educational needs of the division and work in partnership with CUH Academy to deliver high-quality education aligned with key organisational priorities.

Developing educational content and implementing innovative teaching approaches are essential components of the role. You will promote flexible supervision models, ensuring learners receive appropriate support, supervision, teaching, and assessment to deliver safe and effective patient care.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Registered Nurse
  • First degree
  • Evidence of current relevant continuous professional development
  • Post Graduate Certificate in Education or working towards
  • Fellow of Higher Education Academy or working towards
  • Evidence of ongoing continuous professional development in area of specialism
Desirable criteria
  • Post registration qualification
  • Professional Nurse Advocate
  • Leadership/management experience
  • Evidence of ability to study at Master’s level

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Demonstrate expert nursing skills
  • Evidence of mentorship/preceptorship roles
  • Teaching experience (formal or informal)
  • Experience in using reflective practice.
  • Experience in giving formal feedback to others
Desirable criteria
  • Experience in shift management and leadership of a team
  • Relevant audit experience

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Able to demonstrate understanding of the job role priorities in respect of current NHS, Nursing and Midwifery Council standards/HCPC standards, CQC standards
  • Good understanding of professional and statutory body requirements in relation to practice learning placements
