Job overview

Applications are invited for the post of Locum Consultant in ENT (Otolaryngology) at Addenbrookes Hospital, part of Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

We have two posts available to start from 03 September 2025 for 7 months.

Main duties of the job

These posts provide an excellent opportunity to work within a busy ENT department which provides a comprehensive range of services. The purpose of these locum posts is to provide outpatient capacity to align the department in meeting national targets definitive management with a particular focus on new patient appointments.

The successful applicants are expected to have experience in delivering general ENT care. An interest in medical Otology is desirable. Prior consultant level experience in the field is also desirable

You will be fully registered with the GMC and ideally have a CCT in Otolaryngology or be within six months of award of CCT at the time of interview. Applications are welcomed from those unable to work full time for personal reasons or those wishing to job-share.

The applicant must have demonstrable skills in listening, reading, writing and speaking in English that enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues, as set out in the GMC’s Good Medical Practice (2013). Non-UK applicants must possess the IELTS/OET exam before obtaining a GMC licence to practice.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The ENT Department provides a comprehensive service for all ENT conditions. The Department is extremely busy and managed some 3000 surgical admissions and 26,000 outpatient visits in the last year. 

It has a world-renowned Otology, Skull-base and cochlear implant team and offers specialised services in Paediatric ENT, Voice, Thyroid and Parathyroid surgery and Rhinology
