Applications are invited for the post of Consultant in Emergency Medicine (9 PA).

Interviews for this post will be held in person on Wednesday 30 September 2026 at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge. (Hills Road, CB2 0QQ). Specific department and venue details will be provided to shortlisted candidates.

Main duties of the job

You will be joining a friendly and supportive team of over 27 FTE Consultants working on an annualised rota to provide the full spectrum of Emergency Care within the Emergency Department at Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Trust (CUH). This is a busy, acute hospital, a specialist tertiary referral centre and one of the best performing regional Major Trauma Centres with one of the lowest mortality ratios in the UK. You will be supported by a dynamic and highly motivated Nursing team, an inspiring cadre of training and career grade Doctors, Emergency Nurse Practitioners, Advanced Care Practitioners and the full range of in-patient acute specialties. 

You will be fully registered with the GMC and ideally have a CCT in Emergency Medicine or be within six months of award of CCT at the time of interview.

The applicant must have demonstrable skills in listening, reading, writing and speaking in English that enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues, as set out in the GMC’s Good Medical Practice (2013). Non-UK applicants must possess the IELTS/OET exam before obtaining a GMC licence to practice.
