Job overview

Applications are invited for the post of Clinical Fellow Higher (ST3-5/ST6+) in Paediatric Surgery at Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. This post is available to commence from 18 August 2025 for 12 months.

We are looking for a committed and enthusiastic doctor who would like to build on their existing Paediatric Surgical experience. In this role you would be involved in the full range of Paediatric Surgical and Urology practice, caring for our patients. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to develop their subspecialty interest. 

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work as a Clinical Fellow Higher (ST3-5/ST6+) in Paediatric Surgery. This post is advertised to fill a vacancy on the Middle Grade rota. This role includes the provision of elective and emergency paediatric surgical care,  encompassing delivering operating theatre lists, reviewing patients in the outpatient department, reviewing patients in the Emergency Department and within the inpatient wards. 

The Department has operating lists daily including day case lists at Addenbrooke’s Hospital and at Hinchingbrooke Hospital. Outpatient clinics are held in both locations with Consultants delivering additional peripheral clinics. 

Out-of-hours responsibilities: participation in the 7 person Paediatric Surgical Middle Grade on-call rota. 

This department is certified by the European Union of Medical Specialists as an accredited training centre for Paediatric Surgery. 

Please note that this post does not carry Postgraduate Dean’s approval or training recognition.

Full Registration and a Licence to Practice with the General Medical Council at point of application is required.
