Job overview
Applications are invited for the post of Senior Clinical Fellow in Neurosciences and Trauma Intensive Care Medicine with the Interventional Pleural Procedural Service at Cambridge University Hospitals. This post is to commence as soon as possible, and to end 3rd August 2021.
The post offers the opportunity to develop expertise in neurosciences and trauma intensive care medicine whilst undergoing procedural training in lung ultrasound, intercostal drain insertion, pleural sampling, bronchoscopy, and thoracic imaging. Please note that these posts do not carry Postgraduate Dean’s approval or training recognition.
The successful applicant will be fully registered with the GMC with a license to practice, and ideally have a CCT in Anaesthetics or Intensive Care Medicine or be within six months of award of CCT at the time of interview.
Main duties of the job
Successful candidates will join a world leading team within the Neurosciences and Trauma Critical Care Unit (NCCU). NCCU provides critical care to victims of major trauma and to patients with complex neurosurgical and neurological disease.
The NCCU medical establishment consists of 15 consultants, 24 junior doctors, 2 foundation doctors, and 2 advanced critical care practitioners.
Addenbrooke’s Hospital is the Major Trauma Centre for the East of England, serving a population of around 6.4 million people. This thriving, modern teaching hospital is the local hospital for people living in the Cambridge area and is the regional referral centre for a number of specialties, including neurosurgery, cancer surgery, transplantation, plastic surgery, vascular and paediatrics. Addenbrooke’s offers unparalleled capacity for teaching, including involvement in the high fidelity simulation centre, and research within the department as well as the wider biomedical campus.
