Job overview
Applications are invited for a Clinical Fellow Higher (ST3-5/ST6+) post in Neurology to commence on 02 September 2026 for 12 months. This is a busy neurology post that offers the chance to gain experience in an outstanding clinical and academic tertiary neurosciences department.
Main duties of the job
This post will involve providing clinical care for patients on the Neurology and Stroke Wards and Day Unit, as well as the opportunity to attend General and Specialty clinics. The post holder will have access to the same opportunities as the doctors in training, including weekly academic meetings and teaching, whom they will work alongside. The job is well supported, and clinical activities will take place from Monday to Friday 08:30hrs to 17:30hrs and the successful applicant will be expected to contribute to the full shift acute Neurology/Stroke registrar on-call rota.

Full Registration and a Licence to Practice with the General Medical Council at the time of application is required.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The Neurosciences Department comprises Neurology, Neurosurgery, Neuroradiology (including interventional), Neuro-Intensive care and Neurophysiology. It is a busy, friendly unit, and the post should offer scope to develop skills in all aspects of clinical neurology. The successful applicant will gain a broad experience of clinical neurology and the ability to expand on a range of subspecialty interests including:
- Neuro-Inflammatory Disorders (Professor Coles, Professor Sawcer, Dr McCarthy, Dr Jones, Dr Fisniku and Dr Needham);
- Vascular Neurology (Dr Agarwal and Dr Pauls);
- Epilepsy (Dr Ham, Dr Cope and Dr Mitchell);
- Movement Disorders (Professor Barker, Dr Williams-Grey, Dr Phillips and Dr Worth);
- Neuromuscular Disease (Dr Roberts, Dr Gunawardana and Dr Brierley);
- Neuro-Genetics (Professor Chinnery, Dr Horvath, Dr Jelle van den Ameele and Dr Hensiek);
- Cognitive Disorders (Professor Rowe, Dr Galton, Dr Graham and Dr Rittman).
