We are searching for an ambitious, exceptional and highly motivated senior nurse to join the Office of the Chief Nurse as one of our Deputy Chief Nurses.  

You will provide leadership and support across the Chief Nurse portfolio with a strong emphasis on delivery of quality. You will be expected to provide inspirational leadership to our nursing workforce and provide professional advice across the organisation. Alongside the Chief Nurse team you will be responsible for engaging nursing staff across the divisions in taking forward the nursing and midwifery  and allied health professionals strategy, enabling high quality patient centred care across all our services. You will be an experienced senior nurse who has held previous leadership roles and have a proven record of leading a team in delivering high quality care for patients and leading quality improvement programmes. You will be a highly visible credible nurse leader, able to evidence how you have positively influenced nursing and patient care. You should possess excellent communication skills and be self-motivated with the ability to be flexible in your approach working within complex organisations and systems.

You will directly manage and provide leadership to corporate nursing services identified within the portfolio.

The post holder will deputise for the Chief Nurse across the full range of the role, including executive level meetings and Board of Directors.

The post holder will provide professional nursing leadership and advice across the organisation, responsible for engaging nursing and midwifery staff across the divisions in taking forward the nursing strategy and the provision of high quality services.

The post holder will provide leadership and support across  the Chief Nurse portfolio.

Undertakes the role of the on-call director within the on-call rota, including silver command.

  • Demonstrable achievements in improving patient care, being forward thinking and innovative.
  • Experience of managing services, staff and budgets and resources.
  • Development of nurses and midwives as professionals in their practice.
  • Sound project management skills.
  • Experience of managing health service quality issues and problem solving within a complex environment.
  • Experience of performance management.
  • Experience in developing, leading and implementing policies across services and the Trust.
