Job overview
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Occupational Health and Wellbeing team as an OH Nurse Advisor.
There are currently two full-time posts available due to vacancy and internal promotion.
Based in the purpose-built OH building on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus, you will play a key role in supporting the health of staff working at Cambridge University Hospitals and external organisations.
You will be responsible for the provision of the full range of specialist Occupational Health services including a caseload of referrals, staff screening and outbreak contact tracing.
Main duties of the job
We're ideally looking for a nurse with previous experience of working in Occupational Health and either with or working towards an OH qualification.
The job involves case and screening management. Experience of undertaking management referral appointments is desirable.
Knowledge of triaging, staff immunisation and screening processes is helpful in addition to experience of shift lead duties and supervising direct reports.

Interviews are due to be held on 26th October 2026.
All appointments with a start date on or after 1 October 2026 will be subject to a 12-week probationary period. This provides a structured and supportive period to help you settle into your role, with regular reviews and feedback.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Current registration with NMC on part one or two of the Register
- Portfolio of evidence of continuing professional development relevant to nursing and role
- Certificate in OH nursing or relevant healthcare specialty
Desirable criteria
- Degree or diploma in OH nursing
- Diploma or module in public health, infectious or respiratory diseases or other healthcare specialty
- SCPHN – OH
- Certificate level teaching qualification
- Mentorship qualification
Experience
Essential criteria
- Proven delivery of evidence based clinical practice within OH environment or Proven delivery of evidence based clinical experience within a related specialty in an NHS environment
- Experience of case and screening management (relevant to OH/Current role)
- Experience of line management of junior staff and also clinical and shift management in the absence of senior colleagues
- Experience of supervising and teaching junior colleagues
- Experience of utilising reflective practice
- Experience of MDT working and working alongside and with other departments
Desirable criteria
