Applications are invited for the post of Neonatal Operational Delivery Network (ODN) is seeking expressions of interest for the role of Clinical Lead on a fixed-term basis for 12 months (2 PAs).

Main duties of the job

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and motivated neonatal clinician to provide clinical leadership across the network, supporting the delivery of high-quality, safe, equitable, and family-centred neonatal care. The successful applicant will work closely with provider organisations, network colleagues, commissioners, and wider stakeholders to drive service improvement, support implementation of national standards, and improve outcomes for babies and their families.

Key Responsibilities

The Clinical Lead will:

• Provide strategic and clinical leadership to the Neonatal ODN.
• Support the delivery of the ODN work programme and strategic objectives.
• Lead the development and implementation of network-wide clinical pathways, guidelines, and standards.
• Promote quality improvement, patient safety, and clinical governance across the network.
• Work collaboratively with neonatal units, maternity services, transport services, and tertiary centres.
• Champion equity of access and reduce unwarranted variation in care and outcomes.
• Support workforce development, education, and training initiatives.
• Represent the ODN at regional and national meetings as require. 

Essential Criteria

Applicants should:

• Hold a substantive consultant post in Neonatology or Paediatrics with a significant neonatal practice.
• Be registered with the General Medical Council and hold a Licence to Practise.
• Demonstrate experience of clinical leadership and service development.
• Have a strong track record in quality improvement, governance, or network working.
• Possess excellent communication, influencing, and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Be committed to improving outcomes and experiences for babies and their families.
