Operations Manager

Band 8c

Job overview

We have an exciting opportunity for two hard-working individuals with significant operational experience to join Division D as Operations Managers.  One post will be responsible for Cardiology, Medical Genetics, Metabolic Medicine, Obesity, Diabetes, Endocrinology, Lipids, Orthotics and Prosthetics services in Division D and the other will cover Neurosciences (including Neurology, Neurosurgery and Stroke).  You will work in partnership with our Clinical Directors and nursing leadership team.

Division D is responsible for Neurosciences, EPOV (Ear, Nose and Throat, Head & Neck, Plastics, Oral/Maxillofacial, Vascular Surgery) and CDG-MODEL (Cardiology, Medical Genetics, Metabolic Medicine, Obesity, Diabetes/Endocrinology and Lipids). We deliver around half of the outpatient activity and a third of the surgical activity across the hospital and run 13 wards. Many of our services have regional footprints, and we work closely with networks, the Cancer Alliance, NHSE and ICBs to deliver high-quality care to patients across the East of England and further afield.

As Operations Manager, you will lead a team to deliver outstanding services in accordance with agreed objectives, targets (including RTT, diagnostic and Cancer targets), quality standards, controls and resource constraints as set out in the business plans for the services delivered by the directorate.  You will operationally manage staff, space and equipment to ensure an efficient service, working closely with the full multidisciplinary team and across divisional boundaries.  You will lead on the preparation of accurate and timely reports for directorate and divisional management team meetings, utilising a variety of information sources and data analysis techniques.  You will also ensure services are compliant with CQC regulations having oversight of clinical governance and lead on business continuity and strategy development.

We are looking for individuals with significant operational experience, experience managing budgets and leading change, ideally with a postgraduate management qualification.  You should have excellent communication and presentation skills, transferable to a range of complex situations, and be able to deliver work to a high standard, coping well under pressure.
