Consultant in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (10PA's)

Consultant

Job overview

Applications are invited for the post of Consultant in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (10PA's). This is an exciting opportunity for a substantive consultant based within the Paediatric Department at Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The successful applicant will join a multi-disciplinary team delivering a new Children and Young People's Gender Service (East of England).

This role is suited to a paediatric psychiatrist with expertise in neuro-diversity and hospital liaison psychiatry, a strong ethic of reflective practice and a passion for multi-disciplinary team working. The post-holder will provide clinical leadership, supervision and support to junior staff and be a source of clinical expertise to the wider multi-disciplinary team.

Main duties of the job

The Cass Review into gender services for children and young people has recommended that staff should maintain a broad clinical perspective by working across related NHS services in order to embed the care of children and young people with gender-related distress within a broader child and adolescent health context. In order to facilitate this, we encourage part-time applications from staff already working in other NHS or community paediatric psychiatric services. We can also work with successful candidates applying for full-time roles to agree a job plan that includes a mix of gender service activity and activity in another clinical or allied areas within Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, for example safeguarding, liaison psychiatry, medical education.

Working for our organisation

The applicant must have demonstrable skills in listening, reading, writing and speaking in English that enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues, as set out in the GMC’s Good Medical Practice (2013). Non-UK applicants must possess the IELTS/OET exam before obtaining a GMC licence to practice.

Applications from job seekers who require skilled worker sponsorship to work in the UK are welcome and will be considered alongside all other applications. For further information please visit the UK Visas and Immigration website.

It is a requirement for skilled worker applicants, applying for entry clearance into the UK, to present a criminal record certificate from each country they have resided continuously or cumulatively for 12 months or more in the past 10 years. Adult dependants (over 18 years old) will also be subject to this requirement.

Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is an Equal Opportunities Employer.
