Main duties of the job
The Senior Clinical Fellow will support the soft tissue knee and joint preservation service. They will primarily be working with Mr Melton, Mr Memarzadeh and Mr McDonnell in the Cambridge Knee Unit. The role includes supervised and independent operating and clinics. The post also includes unicompartmental knee arthroplasty experience.
In order to be considered, applicants must have completed the FRCS examination and show a strong interest for soft tissue knee surgery. Having CCT in trauma and orthopaedics is preferred.

Full Registration and a Licence to Practice with the General Medical Council at time of application is required.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
This post includes a balanced mix of elective theatres, clinics, and MDTs, with regular opportunities for independent operating and clinics. Surgical focus includes ligament reconstruction, osteotomy, cartilage restoration, biologic joint preservation, and some arthroplasty.
There is no on-call commitment, but the post includes one weekend parallel weekend operating list every two months. Fellows are encouraged to engage in teaching, audit, and research, with access to clinical trials and national presentation opportunities. This post is ideal for a post-CCT surgeon seeking subspecialist experience in knee preservation and reconstruction.
The appointee will be expected to run the Knee Unit MDT (including one regional cartilage MDT per month). This is in addition to working closely with the unit’s specialist Physiotherapist and Clinical Nurse Specialists to manage the Knee Unit Database. The department includes three Registrars and several Clinical Fellows and Core Trainees.
The successful candidate is expected to and produce at least one piece of work suitable for presentation and publication. There are no on-call duties within this post, however, there a 1 in 8 Sunday theatre operating list in parallel with one of the supervisors.
