Security Advisor

Band 6

Job overview

The Security Advisor plays a key role in supporting the delivery of a safe and secure environment across the Trust. Reporting to the Security Service Manager within the Risk Services team, the postholder will work collaboratively with internal departments and external agencies—including police and regulatory bodies—to manage and improve security standards.

This role involves monitoring and investigating security incidents, supporting compliance with legislation and NHS guidance, and contributing to the development of security strategies and training. The Security Advisor will also assist in managing outsourced security contracts, oversee the use of security technologies (e.g., CCTV, access control, lone working systems), and promote a culture of safety.

The post requires strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently across multiple sites and service areas.

Main duties of the job

• Support the Security Manager to deliver an environment that is safe and secure so that the highest standards of care can be made available to patients. This will be achieved by working in close partnership with stakeholders within the NHS, and external organisations such as the police, professional representative’s bodies and trade unions in order to tackle violence and aggression against staff and professionals who work or provide services to the NHS.

• Support the Trust’s Risk Management team in providing reports and returns for management of compliance with relevant legislation, regulations, codes of practice, and technical standards in relation to security matters, violence and aggression.

• Support in the management of security services outsourced by the Trust, acting in support of the subject matter expert and providing support and guidance on all issues relating to security and promoting high levels of engagement with matrons, ward managers, service managers.
