George Mackenzie House is the only NHS specialist provider of secure services within the area, offering a supportive and collaborative environment where patient-centred care is at the heart of everything we do. Our secure unit provides a safe and therapeutic environment for individuals with complex needs.

As a staff nurse here, you will play a pivotal role in delivering high quality, compassionate care, working collaboratively with the MDT in implementation of personalize treatment plans. Support patients in a holistic manner on their recovery journey, use your clinical expertise to contribute to a therapeutic environment and champion compassionate patient-focused approach.

The ideal candidate should have a strong team work ethic, positive can-do attitude, strong communication skills, sense of accountability and responsibility, accompanied by resilience and an ability to work under pressure at times. A good sense of humour is also valued.

Main duties of the job

Please note for this role you will be required to travel independently around the county meeting strict time deadlines. You will need to hold a full UK driving licence*. You cannot use public transport for this role as this is not a reliable form of transport and will not allow you to meet service needs. • The post holder will provide quality evidence-based nursing advice, support and care for service users with mental and physical health needs and to their carers within a multidisciplinary setting.
  
  
• They will be responsible for the assessment, planning implementation and evaluation of nursing care, and should have a working knowledge of local, national policies and legislation which govern current service provision.
  
  
• The post holder will be responsible for identifying and contributing to the training needs of junior registered and unregistered staff and ensure that issues of equality, diversity and rights are dealt with in accordance with good practice and legislation.
  
  
• They will ensure that effective communication pathways exist, and that they act within their sphere of responsibility, managing the shift in the absence of the Ward Manager or the designated deputy.
