At NWAFT we foster a learning environment, support Radiographers to identify their development needs, give them opportunities to move between specialties and find their niche.
Main duties of the job
To produce high quality diagnostic images and provide high quality patient care to the service users adhering to national guidelines and taking into account relevant legislation including, but not limited to, the Ionising Radiation (Medical Exposure) Regulations (IR(ME)R) 2018 and the Ionising Radiation Regulations 2017 (IRR17).
The post holder will participate in all areas of the clinical rota to include dental, theatre, accident and emergency, orthopaedics, endoscopy, mobile procedures, paediatrics, CT and fluoroscopy and work independently when required. There will be a requirement to work outside of normal working hours, where you will be working unsupervised in a multi disciplinary role as part of the decision process in patient management (A&E red dot).
May undertake one of more of the following as extended role:
- Venopuncture
- Work in a specialised modality, e.g. Computerised Tomography
- Representative at Trust wide meetings e.g. improving working lives

Essential criteria
- GCSE & A level equivalent
- HCPC Registration
- DCR or BSC Hons
Experience
Essential criteria
- Recent general radiography experience
Desirable criteria
- Mentor coaching experience
- Previous NHS Experience
Key Skills
Essential criteria
- Ability to prioritise own workload
- Basic IT skills to manipulate complex post processing packages
- Ability to clearly communicate and relate information concisely
Desirable criteria
- Experience in intravenous cannulation
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Knowledge of local NHS targets and initiatives
- Knowledge of CRIS and PACS
- Knowledge and application of IR(ME)R 2017
