Cambridgeshire Community Services have an exciting opportunity for a Band 7 Specialist Paediatric Audiologist to join a community-based team.
We are looking for an ambitious individual with significant experience in paediatric audiology who wants to work as part of our small, dedicated and widely-skilled team. You will be a specialist in paediatric audiological assessment, including patients with complex needs.
Leadership and management skills will be essential as you will be managing a small number of staff and providing clinical supervision.
There is an excellent opportunity for clinical leadership development including access to the Trust’s highly successful Chrysalis Leadership Development programme and access to higher clinical training.

Main duties of the job
The main purpose of this role is to manage a complex and non-routine case load in the specialist areas of paediatric audiology. This includes working with patients and families, and working with a multidisciplinary team.
This role involves highly specialist patient care. All such care will be provided in an effective, caring and compassionate service to patients. The post holder is required to abide by the NHS values and Constitution.
You must be a team player with the ability to prioritise your time and work schedule effectively. We are looking for someone who can be flexible, have good written and oral communication with children and adults, good management skills, the ability to meet deadlines and knowledge and acceptance of diverse populations.
You will be providing line management to a small number of staff, including clinical supervision. As such you will demonstrate compassionate leadership skills and where needed attend leadership programmes to further develop these skills.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Participate in providing comprehensive paediatric hearing assessments for children including complex cases, working at a senior level.
Undertake a range of diagnostic Audiological tests autonomously, including advanced and specialised testing (behavioural and electro-physical testing of hearing).
Provide Line management and clinical supervision to a small number of staff.
Maintain own professional knowledge and contribute to the clinical development of the service.
Use knowledge and experience in the training and supervision of staff.
Work independently and with Audiology Support Workers where appropriate.
Assist the Clinical Lead to develop and adapt the service according to changing criteria and demographics.
Assist the Clinical Lead to manage changes in practice and establish new systems of working when necessary.
Act as a point of contact for more junior staff within the service.
Mentor and/or act as supervisor for trainee staff as required.
In conjunction with the Clinical Lead be responsible for leading aspects of a subsection of the service.
Provide information and make recommendations within the Audiology Team, colleagues such as Consultant ENT and paediatricians, plus colleagues in other agencies such as teachers of the Deaf, speech and language therapy and social care.
Propose changes to service delivery based on local audit of current service provision, best practice guidance, peer discussion at a national level and review of the evidence base in the literature.
Take part in and carry out clinical audit and support clinical governance processes within the department.
To work as part of a wider Multi-Disciplinary team.
