Advanced Pharmacist - SACT - Peterborough

Band 7 - Band 8a

Job overview

Are you an experienced pharmacist looking to specialise in cancer services?

We’re excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for an Advanced Pharmacist to join our innovative and growing cancer services pharmacy team. Based primarily at Peterborough City Hospital, with potential travel across other sites within the North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust, this full-time role (37.5 hours per week) includes weekend and bank holiday shifts as part of a department-wide rota.

We are seeking a passionate, driven pharmacist with clinical and leadership experience in oncology and haemato-oncology*. In this pivotal role, you will lead and manage a dedicated team of pharmacists, technicians, and support staff, providing exceptional clinical services across the haematology/oncology ward and day unit.

Our pharmacy cancer team is fully integrated within the cancer division, with a state-of-the-art satellite pharmacy at the heart of the haematology/oncology outpatient department. This allows us to deliver high-quality pharmacy services to cancer patients. We are also working towards developing a pharmacist prescriber role within our oncology outpatient clinics, so a non-medical prescriber qualification would be highly desirable.

*This role is also a fantastic development opportunity for candidates without haemato-oncology experience. You will begin at band 7 and, upon successful completion of training (minimum 12 months), have the potential to progress to band 8a based on performance.

Main duties of the job

  • Work closely with the clinical trials and aseptics teams at Peterborough City Hospital, directly impacting patient care.
  • Contribute to the integration of the pharmacy cancer team within the cancer division, ensuring high-quality pharmacy services for cancer patients.
  • Support the development of the pharmacist prescriber role in oncology outpatient clinics.
  • Ideally, bring project management or service improvement experience to support the Trust’s cancer strategy.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication, organisational, and time management skills, with strong attention to detail.
