Job overview
We are looking for an experienced, forward thinking Pharmacy Technician who is not afraid of change, who can “think outside the box” and who have the drive and ambition to “make a difference to patient care”, to join our Pharmacy Dispensaries Team based at Peterborough City Hospital, North West Anglia Hospitals Foundation Trust
Main duties of the job
You will be responsible for providing an accurate and efficient service in the pharmacy dispensaries supporting the dispensing of inpatients and outpatient prescriptions. You will be highly motivated and responsible individuals with a passion for customer service and team work.

You will need to be a Pharmacy Technician registered with the GPhC or completing your NVQ level 3 within the next 3 months.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Participate in the supply of medicines in the form of in and out-patient dispensing, including accurate prescription receipt, labelling and assembly, and ensuring prompt completion and distribution, in accordance with departmental policies and procedures.
Ensure medicines management and dispensing are undertaken in line with Departmental and Trust policies and current medicines legislation.
Participate in agreed ward supply services as appropriate to ensure adequate stock levels are provided on wards.
Participate in dispensing and supply associated with external contracts if appropriate, and to be aware of dispensing practices for each area.

Edcuation and Qualifications
Essential criteria
- • NVQ Level 3 in Pharmacy Services with recognised underpinning knowledge course, or equivalent, recognised by the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain for registration as a Pharmacy Technician or completing within 3 months
- • Accredited checking technician or willing to undertake
- • Commitment to continuing personal development
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of dispensing
Desirable criteria
- Previous experience of working in a hospital pharmacy
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Knowledge of current medicines legislation
Desirable criteria
- Knowledge of Ascribe pharmacy system
- Computer literate (Microsoft Office-Word, Excel, etc.)

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
