Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Inpatient Critical Care and Surgery Therapy Team at Peterborough City Hospital. We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic and motivated Band 6 Physiotherapist to join our team in this full-time role.
The Critical Care Team provides acute inpatient services to Critical Care Unit, Surgical, Respiratory and Cardiac wards as well as a Respiratory Outpatient clinic and Pulmonary Rehabilitation service. The post whilst static in the team has internal rotations to experience the wide variety of clinical opportunities within the team.
Successful candidates need to be fully qualified and HCPC registered with relevant experience as well as drive and dedication. You should be forward thinking, dynamic, and have the desire to develop and improve the service further. This role includes supporting the provision of a 365 day a year On Call service. Experience of working on an On Call rota is essential.
Interviews for this role will be conducted in person to assess relevant skills effectively.
Main duties of the job
To enable Physiotherapy to provide Therapy skills within the inpatient
service.
To ensure safe, efficient and effective delivery of patient focussed care in
line with identified evidence-based practice, local and national standards.
To work collaboratively within Multidisciplinary and Mult-agency Teams.
To participate in delegated projects for service development with the team.
To act autonomously in the assessment and treatment of patients within the speciality who may have complex presentation.
To demonstrate a flexible approach to working in support of the whole inpatient/outpatient team.
To undertake weekend working as required within service developments.
To be available to provide Clinical Supervision.
This role entails 80% Clinical Contact and 20% Operational Management
as appropriate within team requirements.
To guide Band 5 and support staff in the management and delivery of therapeutic care plans.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Degree/Diploma in Physiotherapy
- HCPC Registered
Desirable criteria
- CSP member
Experience
Essential criteria
- Wide variety of experience in core rotations as a Band 5 Physiotherapist or equivalent including respiratory care
- Completion of preceptorship programme
- NHS Acute Hospital Experience
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Clinical knowledge in clinical conditions associated with specialist area/sound level in theoretical knowledge of inpatient areas
- Basic knowledge of the multi-disciplinary team
- Experience in use of basic IT system for data recording
Skills
Essential criteria
- Able to work as a team member and independently
- Good Clinical Reasoning skills
- Ability to present information in logical concise manner
Aptitudes
Essential criteria
- Strong belief in CPD and Reflective Practice
