Job overview
The post holder is expected to work closely with all disciplines to ensure the promotion of high standards for all patients requiring all aspects of perioperative care, following appropriate training encompassing a variety of specialities.
The post holder is expected to carry out all relevant forms of care with direct supervision and will be expected to demonstrate procedures and supervise unqualified staff.
You may be required to work late shifts, nights and weekends and take part in an on-call rota. You may also be required to work your contracted hours across 7 days a week, including Bank Holidays.
Main duties of the job
To assess, plan, implement and evaluate care within his/her sphere of responsibility, having regard for the differing needs of sedation, anaesthesia, endoscopy, surgery and recovery
To liaise with other health care team members within the Perioperative Services Directorate in accordance with patient requirements and needs, ensuring confidentiality of patient
UHW staff are required to work late shifts, nights and weekends. UHL and cardiac staff in UHW are required to take part in an on-call rota to cover nights and weekends 7 days a week including Bank Staff are required to work across sites as and when required.

Essential criteria
- NMC or HPC registration
- RGN or ODP qualification
- Advanced Life Support Qualification from Resuscitation Council UK
Desirable criteria
- Teaching / coaching qualification
Experience
Essential criteria
- Extensive expanded clinical anaesthetic skills: e.g. one lung ventilation, paediatric anaesthesia; blood gasses processing, awake fibre optic intubation, apnoeic anaesthesia, Rotational Thromboelastometry and satellite blood fridge usage.
- Provide anaesthetic support for external to theatre department areas: e.g. Satellite services. Working in Embolisation (Neuro and Vascular); MRI, Cardiac Catheterisation Lab, A&E, Cardioversion list, SKY paediatric oncology list, Velindre Cancer Centre.
- Recent relevant senior experience and participation in of cardiac arrest calls, resuscitation calls, A&E resus calls and team/MERIT calls
