CARING FOR PEOPLE - KEEPING PEOPLE WELL

Cardiff and Vale University Health Board (the UHB) is a Smoke Free Health Board. Smoking is banned across all of the UHB sites. Staff are therefore not able to smoke in the hospital grounds or on any other UHB premises.

The UHB reserves the right to close this vacancy after 24 hours if a large number of suitable applications are received. Therefore we encourage early applications to ensure consideration for this post.

All applicants are invited to apply in Welsh, any application submitted in Welsh will not be treated less favourably than an application made in English.

With effect from 1st April 2017 points 1-5 on the AFC pay scales will be adjusted to £16,523 to reflect the incorporation of the Living Wage Foundation rate of £8.45 per hour.

Applications from job seekers who require Tier 2 sponsorship to work in the UK are welcome and will be considered alongside all other applications. However, non-EEA candidates may not be appointed to a post if a suitably qualified, experienced and skilled EU/EEA candidate is available to take up the post as the employing body is unlikely, in these circumstances, to satisfy the resident labour market test. UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) requires employers to complete this test to show that no suitably qualified EEA or EU worker can fill the post. For further information please visit the UKVI website.

We are seeking to recruit a practitioner psychologist to join our well established Neuropsychology team and to work in the regional specialist community brain injury team. This permanent term post will offer opportunities to develop further skills in neuropsychological assessment and neuro-rehabilitative approaches for service users with neurological conditions and the wider system. Psychological skills are highly valued within the service. The role includes direct client work, plus help for families, care workers, and our multidisciplinary staff. There is an opportunity for consultancy, innovation, service/systems improvement work, staff skills training and research/audit. There is access to a wealth of supervision in the neuropsychology department and the post holder will be well supported to develop specialist areas of practice, specialist knowledge in neuropsychology and research interests.

It is essential for this post to hold a Postgraduate Practitioner Doctorate in Psychology and to be a HCPC Registered Practitioner Psychologist. Knowledge and experience of applying psychology in physical health/medical settings is essential, as is enthusiasm for multi-disciplinary teamwork and multi-agency working.

There is a growing clinical health psychology and neuropsychology specialty group in the UHB. There is an active professional support network for clinical health psychologists in South Wales and you would be encouraged to develop your professional, supervisory and clinical skills via engagement in local and national CPD opportunities.
