Velindre Cancer Service is seeking a dynamic, visible, and inspiring leader to join us as General Manager of one of our newly formed Directorate team.
As General Manager, you will be a core member of the leadership triumvirate, working collaboratively with the Directorate Clinical Director and Directorate Head of Nursing, AHPs, and Clinical Scientists/Head of profession. Together, you will drive operational excellence, champion innovation, and ensure our services are efficient and truly patient-centred.
This is more than a management role - it’s a chance to lead transformation. You will bring a proven track record of operational delivery and strategic insight, guiding your teams through service redesign as we prepare to transition to the new Velindre Cancer Centre (nVCC) in 2027.
We’re looking for someone who thrives in a specialist environment, who can engage and empower clinical and operational managers, and who is passionate about delivering high-quality care aligned with both local and national priorities.
You will also play a key role in integrating Research, Development & Innovation into our operational fabric, helping us shape a future where cutting-edge science and compassionate care go hand in hand.

Main duties of the job
Reporting to the Director Velindre Cancer Service, the main duties of the Directorate General Manager are:
· Leadership and management of all services within the Directorate
· Service delivery and operational performance across the Directorate specialties and associated SST
· Performance of the clinical pathways against local and national treatment standards
· Ensuring safe, high quality patient centred services that benchmarks favourability with Specialist Peer Group
· Financial management and delivery against agreed targets
· Instil a culture of inclusion, maximising opportunities for patient and public involvement
· Workforce planning, to meet the current and future needs of the services
· Ensure Research, Development & Innovation is integral to the Directorate service delivery
